The Fields of Athenry （”阿萨瑞原野”）描述的背景是1845-1850年的爱尔兰大饥荒。在高威郡的阿萨瑞镇上，一名虚构的男子，迈克尔，因为为饥饿的家人盗取食物而被判流放到澳大利亚的波特尼湾。这是一首广为流传的爱尔兰体育运动支持者的赞歌。
